The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution is a 10-minute exfoliating facial.
With 30% Alpha Hydroxyl Acids (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% Beta Hydroxyl Acid (Salicylic Acid), Hyaluronic Acid Crosspolymer, Vitamin B5, Black Carrot and Tasmanian Pepperberry.
Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) exfoliate the skin's topmost surface for a brighter and more even appearance. Beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) also exfoliate the skin with an extended function to help clear pore congestion. This combined 32% AHA/BHA solution offers deeper exfoliation to help fight visible blemishes and for improved skin radiance. The formula also improves the appearance of skin texture and reduces the look of fine lines with continued use.
This formula contains a studied Tasmanian Pepperberry derivative to help reduce irritation associated with acid use. This derivative is of plant origin and varies in colour seasonally and this colour variation may be apparent in the formula from time to time. This formula is further supported with a crosspolymer form of hyaluronic acid for comfort, Vitamin B5 to assist healing and black carrot as an antioxidant.
This pH of this formula is approximately 3.6. Glycolic Acid, the primary AHA used in the formula, has a pKa of 3.6 and pKa is the most important aspect to consider in formulating with acids. pKa implies acid availability. When pKa is close to pH, there is an ideal balance between salt and acidity, maximising effectiveness of the acid and reducing irritation. Higher pH numbers in such a case would increase salt which counter-intuitively would make the formula even more irritating than if the formula was more acidic.

Directions
Use ideally in the PM, no more frequently than twice per week. Clean face and wait for skin to dry. Do not use on wet skin. Apply evenly across face and neck using your fingertips. Leave on for no more than 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water. Avoid the eye contour and contact with eyes both during application and rinse off. This low-viscosity solution is intended to be used as a masque. Do not leave on for longer than 10 minutes. If persistent irritation occurs, discontinue use and consult a physician.
This formula contains a very high concentration of free acids. We recommend use only if you are an experienced user of acid exfoliation and your skin is not sensitive. Contraindications: this formula should not be used on sensitive, peeling or compromised skin. Sunburn Alert: This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. Use a sunscreen, wear protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards. Use only as directed. Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.

Helped me see skin cancer
Exfoliates so good, it brought out skin cancer I couldn't see before. I was 39 at the time. I used the product a few times and I had a red spot appear on my forehead. At first I thought the product burned me but the spot never went away and over time was growing. If I hadn't used this product, I probably wouldn't have caught the cancer when I did.

I've been using The Ordinary for a few years now but this product is so good I'm forgoing my quarterly term appointment. I have a patch of "orange peel" texture on my cheeks and this is the first product that visibly reduces pore size. Only regret is that I didn't take a before pic.

The missing piece
I’ve had a consistent skincare regimen for about 3 years using TO products and some other affordable brands, and combined with an accutane treatment a few years ago, it has maintained clear and healthy facial skin. But I’d always felt like there was just a little more that could be done to help the appearance of my skin—slightly large pores, stubborn post-acne pigmentation, some other mild texture I wanted to improve. This product is that missing piece! I started gentle, only leaving it on for 5 minutes and spacing treatments out about 1.5 weeks. After a couple uses, I can already see visible improvements in my skin. They’re not dramatic, because none of my issues were glaring or immediately obvious. But my pores appear reduced, and post acne marks have faded a bit. With regular use over time, I think this BHA AHA will be key to maintaining the healthiest-looking skin possible.
Btw, using this product without irritation has been a breeze for me. I’m just starting gentle and being patient, even though I want to jump into the full 10 minutes every week. Some mild stinging on a couple spots where my skin was maybe a bit dryer, but no redness or irritation after. I just make sure to slather on the moisturizer right after.

This feels like it’s doing something when I put it on and even the dark colour that it is makes it feel like it must be that way for a reason… I will keep using it and hope that it helps with the texture issue on my skin

Very Pleased
Second bottle and love this product. When I finished my first bottle I thought that maybe I should try a different product to see if I could find something I liked better. I bought a different brand exfoliator and found that I like The Ordinary exfoliator much better. The other product was aula's Choice is much thicker, I have to use more and is almost three times the price and I didn't see better results. I'm very pleased with this product and I plan to try other products in The Ordinary line.

Buy It You Won’t Be Sorry
I love this peeling solution! I use it 2 x a week. It smooth out my 65 year old skin and shrinks my pores a bit! I even bought one for my daughter who will be 36 and she loves it too!

How many drops should you use when applying?
I don't count drops but instead I pipette it straight on the face making 2 inch lines... one on the forehead, one diagonally down each cheek, on vertically down the nose, one across the chin and a bit above my lip. I think it works out about two pipettes full. I then gently rub in circular motions ensuring not to get any under the eye area.
Sorry for the bad explanation... I hope that makes sense a little bit!

Hi,
When I use this I follow it with a hydrating toner (I use Elemis Apricot toner), then a hyaluronic acid serum (I use The Ordinary). I leave that for 10 minutes then apply a moisturiser (with an SPF if it's daytime). Hope this helps :)

Hi, After using this, can i use a retinoid or retinol toner? Or can is it safe to use the retinoid or retinol toner before the niacinimide and zinc? I have a really bad acne prone skin and it’s depressing!
As you wash this off, there is no deactivation so yes you can use a retinol after however beware of irritation as always when using retinols

This product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. The brand advise to use a sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards.
This means we would not recommend going in the sun after using the product.

The brand advise the following:
"A customer can use the The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution and then they should be able to use any of our Granactive Retinoid formulas afterwards without any problems. If they were using a retinol, it might be advisable to not use them on the same night just in case they experience irritation.
We wouldn’t recommend using the lactic acid at all with the AHA peel as they are both exfoliating options and doing so risks over-exfoliating the skin, so we would recommend to use EITHER the peel OR the lactic acid formula."
